Warwick District Council wishes to inform the public that the section of footpath between the construction site for the new Abbey Fields Swimming Pools and the lake will be closed from Monday 15 to Friday 26 April.

 

This is to allow for the installation of a replacement path to improve access for park users while the building work for the new swimming facilities is in progress.

 

Please note that it will not be possible to cross Abbey Fields directly via the duck feeding station to and from Abbey Hill, Castle Farm, Abbey End, Castle Hill and the High Street during this time.

 

The temporary toilets will also be closed on these dates.

 

The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

New Council Customer Service Hub opens its doors.

Warwick District Council’s Customer Service Operations have officially relocated to the Royal Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa.

The new hub which opened to the public on Tuesday 9 April, offers local residents in person support and advice on a range of Council services.

There are also private areas available for those needing a one-to-one meeting with a member of staff.

Open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm the new facilities are a welcome addition to the existing services located within the historic building, which include the public library, visitor information centre, theatre box office, art gallery and café.

All customers wishing to visit the District Council in person should now come to the Royal Pump Rooms, following the closure of the Riverside House HQ.

The Council’s administrative offices at Saltisford, Warwick and Leamington Town Hall are not open or accessible for public enquiries.

Warwick District shines bright for Diwali

Last weekend's start of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, was marked by a special event in Leamington Spa attended by hundreds of Warwick District residents.

 

Members of the Indian community were joined by representatives from local businesses, faith groups and dignitaries in a harmonious celebration of unity and cultural diversity as the Happy Diwali light was switched on at the top of the Parade.

Councillors decide future of Abbey Fields swimming

Last night’s Cabinet agreed that the project to redevelop the swimming pools should proceed subject to the recommendations made by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and gaining final approval from Full Council on 15 November.

Climate Action Score Cards ranking

Climate Emergency UK has released a league table of all UK Council's Climate Emergency Action Plans, with Warwick District Council ranked 7th out of all participating District and Borough Councils, with a score of 47%.

 

The Council also scored the highest amongst all Councils in Warwickshire.

Biodiversity photography competition ends this Sunday

Abbey End War Memorial improvements

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, a partnership between Warwick District Council, Kenilworth Town Council and the Kenilworth Lions has seen improved access and landscaping in and around the town's War Memorial.

 

Funding from the Kenilworth Lions charity has enabled a ramp to be installed to allow wheelchair users access to take part in the services and lay wreaths.

Changes to postal and proxy voting in elections

From 31 October, changes to voting by post and proxy were introduced.

 

For voting by post, you can now apply online. You also need to reapply for a postal vote every three years.

 

For proxy voting, there are limits to how many people you can act as a proxy for. You can also apply online for some types of proxy vote.

Nagar Kirtan Procession

Nagar Kirtan is a traditional Sikh custom involving the processional singing of holy hymns throughout the community.

 

Gurdwara Leamington and Warwick will be celebrating the 555th birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, with the Nagar Kirtan procession around the neighbourhood of the Gurdwara Sahib forming part of the celebrations.
